Meet the Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City

Since 1987, we've been helping our communities grow through education, volunteer service, and a shared love of gardening.

Whether we're answering a gardening question, tending a demonstration garden, or harvesting fresh produce for a local food pantry, we believe gardening has the power to strengthen our communities and connect people.

​​

Today, more than 270 active volunteers serve throughout Jackson County by answering gardening questions, maintaining demonstration gardens, supporting community gardens, teaching educational programs, and donating thousands of pounds of fresh produce to local food pantries.

​

We're proud to connect people with research-based gardening information while making our communities greener, healthier, and more beautiful.

Explore Our Chapter Gardens & Community Impact 

Before the conference, during breaks, or after the day's sessions, take time to explore two beautiful public gardens just steps away.

​

Stroll through the Ewing and Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden, a beloved Kansas City destination known for its beautifully designed seasonal displays, peaceful walkways, and inspiring garden spaces.

​

Then explore the native gardens surrounding the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center, where you'll discover beautiful examples of Missouri native plants, pollinator-friendly landscapes, and sustainable gardening practices.

Throughout the year, our volunteers make a difference by:

• Answer hundreds of gardening questions through our Garden Hotline

• Maintain demonstration and educational gardens

• Support community gardens throughout the Kansas City area

• Present educational gardening programs

• Grow and donate thousands of pounds of fresh produce to local food pantries
